In Hervás, the geological subsoil is dominated by granite, gneiss and other igneous rocks, present in almost 77% of the municipal area. These lithologies, due to their high strength and cohesion, provide excellent bearing capacity, which favours the adoption of shallow, direct foundations in most projects. Nevertheless, some bodies of water are found occasionally, which may affect ground moisture and the need to carry out adequate drainage, but it does not significantly alter stability for building purposes, as the rocky soils maintain low deformability.

With regard to seismicity, Hervás has a notable level, with 56 events recorded over 30 years, although all of them are of low magnitude (Mmax 3.1). As a result, the seismic impact on structural design is limited and it is not usually a main design constraint. The risk of expansive soils is ruled out, since the predominant subsoil is not clayey. Consequently, the key geotechnical consideration in the area is the proper characterisation of the rock in order to define foundation systems, without requiring additional assessments of karstification or expansivity.
