In Gerena, the predominant geological substrate consists of limestones, dolomites and marbles—high-competency materials that favour a high bearing capacity for both shallow and deep foundations. This ground, together with the secondary presence of shales, schists and, to a lesser extent, granite and gneiss, generally provides good stability conditions.
