Estudio geotécnico in Fuensanta de Martos

In Fuensanta de Martos, soils of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominate, accounting for more than half of the surface area, accompanied by significant inputs of limestones, dolomites and marbles. These materials, for the most part with low to very low permeability, can host localised surface aquifers, but their rigid behaviour provides adequate bearing capacity for conventional foundations. However, the lithological heterogeneity, especially due to the presence of flysch, requires in situ characterisation in order to determine the optimal foundation support depth.

Local seismicity is very low, with only around five events in the last 30 years and a low maximum magnitude, which minimises the seismic influence on structural design. Nevertheless, the presence of carbonate materials, such as limestones and dolomites, implies the possibility of karstification, so it is essential to verify the existence of cavities or dissolution processes before designing the foundation. The non-clayey substrate eliminates the risk of expansivity, making karst the main factor to assess in the geotechnical studies for the area.
