In Els Pallaresos, the dominant subsoil corresponds to limestones, dolomites and marbles, present very frequently, accompanied to a lesser extent by gravels, compacted sands, and some intercalations of fine sands with silts. These materials usually provide a good bearing capacity for foundations, although the occasional presence of fine sands and silts may require local assessment to avoid less competent zones. In general, the low permeability of these formations favours the stability of both shallow and deep foundations, provided that any possible groundwater levels in the subsurface are analysed during the design phase.

Seismicity in the municipality is very low, with only seven recorded events in the last three decades and a low maximum magnitude (Mmax 1.6), so it does not represent a limiting factor for structural design. Since the subsoil is predominantly non-clayey, the risk of expansivity in the foundation soils is ruled out. Thus, the main geotechnical constraint in Els Pallaresos lies in assessing the competence and homogeneity of the rock substrate, without the presence of risks associated with karst or expansive soils.
