In Daimiel, limestone, dolomites and marbles predominate as the substrate, representing more than 80% of the soils, accompanied occasionally by compact gravel and sand. These lithologies, with massive or blocky structure, typically exhibit good bearing capacities for shallow foundations, although the compaction of the gravel and sand also allows simple solutions in specific locations. The low near-surface permeability contributes to controlling ground stability, but at depth there could be considerable aquifers that must be assessed before any intervention.

Seismicity in Daimiel is very low, with a single significant event every few decades and a low maximum magnitude, so it does not condition structural design. However, the presence of an area with karst development, characteristic of limestone and dolomites, requires a thorough verification of the existence of voids or dissolution before carrying out any foundation. The non-clayey substrate rules out risks of expansiveness, positioning karst control as the main geotechnical constraint to be analysed in the previous geotechnical studies.
