In Chilluévar, the ground is characterised mainly by the presence of limestones, dolomites and marbles, which form a competent rock substratum in terms of bearing capacity, suitable for most solutions for shallow foundations. Sandstones and conglomerates occur secondarily, and silty sands are infrequent and localised, so they rarely condition the foundation support. The presence of aquifers in carbonate formations can generate local variations in ground strength, especially associated with discontinuities or local fracturing.

From a geotechnical point of view, seismic activity in the area is very low, with only a few minor events and a low maximum magnitude; therefore, seismicity does not represent a significant limitation. However, the dominant calcareous nature requires verifying the possible existence of karstification before carrying out any foundation, as the presence of cavities or dissolution processes may involve risks of differential settlement. On the other hand, the non-clayey nature of the substratum rules out expansivity risks; consequently, the main focus should be on investigating and characterising the karst.
