In Chillón, the dominant materials are slates and schists, accompanied by smaller areas of hard clays and marls, as well as occasional outcrops of granite and sands. This type of bedrock substrate usually provides a good bearing capacity for shallow (direct) foundations, although the occasional presence of fine deposits and the proximity of water bodies may require particular attention in relation to ground saturation and low permeability.
