In Castellanos de Moriscos, sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominate, forming virtually the entire substrate of the municipality. These materials typically have low permeability, which means that surface infiltration is limited and, therefore, the presence of aquifers is confined to deeper levels. The mechanical behaviour of these soils is generally favourable in terms of bearing capacity, allowing conventional shallow foundations without excessive risk of differential settlement, except at very localised points where the thickness or composition of the upper layers may vary.

There are no indications of karst activity or of the presence of gypsum, salts or anhydrite in the area, which minimises the risk of dissolution or instabilities associated with these materials. On the other hand, seismicity is very low, with only 3 events over 30 years and a low maximum magnitude, which rules out seismic conditions for structural design. In addition, the absence of clayey strata removes any concern about ground expansiveness. The main aspect to consider in the geotechnical study will be the local assessment of the density and homogeneity of the materials, especially if there are alterations in the flysch or loose layers within the conglomeratic formations.
