In Carcaixent, the subsoil is composed fundamentally of fine sands, silts, compact gravels and a notable presence of limestones, dolomites and marbles. This combination provides a substrate with good bearing capacity, suitable for most types of conventional foundations. The area shows moderate seismicity, with 11 events over the last 30 years, although the maximum recorded magnitude is low (Mmax 2.5), meaning that seismic risk is not relevant for structural design. The absence of a clayey substrate rules out issues related to expansivity; however, the significant presence of limestones and dolomites implies that it is necessary to verify whether karst cavities exist before any foundation is constructed. The possibility of karst processes is the main constraint for geotechnical studies in this locality.
