In Caminomorisco, soils of slate and schist predominate, accounting for more than 87% of the local substrate, accompanied by small proportions of sandstone, conglomerates and flysch, and to a lesser extent masses of water. These lithologies, frequently of low permeability, generally exhibit moderate bearing capacity, although the fracturing of the slates may condition the choice of foundation, requiring direct shallow surface solutions such as strip footings when the rock is little altered or alternatives such as raft slabs or piles in less competent sectors.

Seismic activity in the municipality is notable, with 56 events over 30 years, although of low maximum magnitude (Mmax 3.1), so seismicity does not constitute a relevant constraint for construction. There are no risks associated with karst or expansivity, as the substrate is not clayey, ruling out impacts due to swelling or shrinkage. The main aspect to be controlled in the geotechnical study is the degree of alteration and fracturing of the rock materials in order to guarantee stability and the correct transfer of foundation loads.
