In Camargo, soils of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominate, accompanied by significant outcrops of limestones, dolomites and marbles. The municipality shows a notable level of seismicity, with 145 events recorded over 30 years and a maximum magnitude of Mmax 4, although it does not exceed the critical thresholds for additional seismic requirements in conventional structural design. The non-clayey substrate considerably reduces the risk of expansivity, increasing the reliability of shallow foundations. However, the possible existence of karstic formations associated with limestones and dolomites implies the need to carry out detailed studies to rule out the presence of voids or dissolution zones before any footing is executed. Thus, the main geotechnical limiting factor in Camargo lies in verifying karst and the point-specific location of gypsum or infill—two aspects that are critical to ensure long-term stability of buildings.
