In Cabezuela del Valle, the predominant geotechnical substrate is made up of granite, gneiss and other igneous rocks, which account for more than 85% of the area. These lithologies are characterised by high strength and low deformability, providing an excellent bearing capacity for the foundations of structures. The inherently low permeability of these materials implies a reduced risk of delayed collapses due to washing or dissolution, although shallow aquifers may appear in some areas that must be identified, particularly in environments close to bodies of water.

With regard to seismic hazard, Cabezuela del Valle has recorded an activity of 56 events over the last 30 years, classified as notable, although the maximum magnitude recorded (Mmax 3.1) is low and does not represent a severe constraint in conventional structural design. The fact that the substrate is mostly non-clayey rules out relevant risks of expansiveness. The main factor to consider in the geotechnical studies for the area is the appropriate characterisation of the local presence of aquifers, since the remaining constraints present a low risk for foundations.
