Types of ground in Cabanas
The municipality of Cabanas is characterised by the dominant presence of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch, whereas, to a lesser extent, granitic materials, gneiss and igneous formations also occur, as well as slates and schists. The lithological composition, mostly non-clayey, favours good bearing capacity for most foundation solutions, although locally slates and schists may require verification of compressive strength and behaviour with respect to water. In addition, due to the low permeability of these materials, superficial aquifers could develop and drainage should be analysed carefully in the geotechnical study.
