The predominant substrate in Beniarrés consists of 83.86% limestones, dolomites and marbles. These formations generally exhibit low permeability and constitute soils with good bearing capacity for deep and shallow foundations, although aspects such as the possible dissolution in the presence of water must be considered due to the risk of karst. The significant presence of these limestone rocks requires a detailed study to determine the feasibility of different foundation systems in the area.

On the other hand, the high presence of karst and the moderate seismicity (52 events in 30 years with Mmax=3.4) affect the design constraints of the project station. Although the substrate does not show expansiveness, the probability of dissolution in carbonate formations must be verified before carrying out foundation works, prioritising the assessment of the karst potential in the structural design and the ground’s integrity.
