Types of ground in Beas

In Beas, the predominant geological substrate is composed mostly of slates and schists, accompanied to a lesser extent by limestones, dolomites and marbles. These formations usually exhibit acceptable bearing capacity, although the variable density of the slates and the foliation may require detailed studies to select the optimal foundation system. The occasional presence of gravels, compact sands and some igneous rocks provides local heterogeneity, but it does not constitute the dominant feature within the municipal area. Generally, the low-permeability conditions favour the stability of shallow foundations provided that possible superficial aquifers are studied in specific areas.

The recorded seismicity in Beas is very low, with only 9 significant events in the last 30 years and a maximum magnitude of 3.1, which minimises the need to apply strict additional seismic constraints to the design of the structures. The non-clayey substrate rules out risks associated with expansivity phenomena, enabling foundation and design strategies to be optimised.
