In Balanegra, soils formed by limestones, dolomites and marbles predominate, with a significant presence of fine sands and, to a lesser extent, silts. The lithological composition, of predominantly carbonate nature, generally provides an excellent bearing capacity for shallow or semi-deep foundations. However, the presence of karstification in the limestone and dolomite massifs requires an exhaustive check for the existence of cavities or underground instabilities before carrying out the foundation, since this is the most relevant factor for a correct geotechnical study in the municipality. The absence of clayey materials rules out expansion-related risks.
