In Baeza, the subsoil is made up mainly of limestones, dolomites and marbles, accounting for more than 66% of the materials present, with secondary levels of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch. These lithologies provide good bearing capacity and a favourable response for shallow foundations, provided that altered or fractured zones are avoided. However, it is necessary to take into account that localised shallow aquifers may exist, although the formations are predominantly of low permeability.

Seismicity in the area is notable, with 62 events recorded over the last 30 years, although of limited magnitude (Mmax 3.7). In addition, the presence of karstification in the limestones and dolomites requires specific verification to rule out possible voids or cavities before carrying out any foundation work, as they could compromise structural stability. The non-clayey substratum rules out expansivity as the main geotechnical conditioning factor.
