Types of ground in Atxondo
In Atxondo, sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominate—materials of fundamentally detrital nature that offer good bearing capacities for most foundations. In specific areas, limestones, dolomites and marbles are identified, as well as smaller zones of fine sands and silts; the former provide stiffness, whereas looser soils require localised analyses of compaction and settlement. Permeability is low to moderate and generally does not represent a significant constraint for the drainage of groundwater, although it is advisable to consider the possible presence of shallow aquifers.
