Types of ground in Artés
In the municipality of Artés, the materials are predominantly composed of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch, forming a competent rocky substrate in most locations. The occasional presence of fine sands, silts and, to a lesser extent, gypsum, anhydrite and salts introduces local heterogeneity, although they are mainly arranged as shallow surface layers that are of little relevance for the usual bearing capacity. The dominant formations, with very low permeability, provide good conditions for shallow foundation, although in areas with gypsum or salts attention should be paid to the possible risk of dissolution of these materials in the presence of water.
