In Armilla, the dominant subsoil consists of fine sands and silts, accounting for almost 70% of the ground, with frequent occurrences of water-bearing masses associated with highly permeable and productive aquifers. This composition provides moderate bearing capacity, although foundations must take into account both the potential grain-size heterogeneity and the influence of groundwater on stability and settlements, particularly where groundwater may reduce the effective strength of the subsoil.

Regarding natural hazards, Armilla shows very low seismicity, with only 8 recorded events over 30 years and a maximum magnitude of 3.4, meaning the seismic influence is minimal in structural design. Expansive clays are subordinate and, for the most part, located in areas without anhydrous deficit, which largely mitigates the potential risk from shrink-swell (swelling-drying). The main geotechnical constraint in the area is linked to controlling the groundwater level and grain-size variability, rather than to expansive or karst phenomena.
