Estudio geotécnico in Arganda del Rey

In Arganda del Rey, the geological subsoil is composed mainly of hard materials such as limestones, dolomites and marbles, together with a significant presence of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch. These types of soil generally offer good conditions for foundations owing to their favourable bearing capacity and low compressibility. However, there is sometimes a proportion of gypsum, anhydrite and salts, which can entail risks of dissolution, particularly in the presence of highly permeable aquifers, making it essential to take extra care in the design of the direct foundation and in the selection of the bearing level.

Seismic activity in the municipality is moderate, with 24 events in the last 30 years and a low maximum magnitude (Mmax 2.6), so seismicity does not pose a severe constraint for structural sizing. Nevertheless, the possible presence of karst in the subsoil requires thorough verification before any foundation intervention, as cavities or sinkholes may exist associated with the dissolution of carbonate and gypsum-bearing materials. The non-clayey substrate rules out problems of expansiveness; therefore, the main geotechnical constraint in Arganda del Rey is the risk associated with karst processes and gypsum dissolution, requiring specific ground investigation campaigns.
