In Algarinejo, sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominate, with a significant presence of limestones, dolomites and marbles. This type of substrate, generally of low or very low permeability, sometimes contains shallow aquifers with a local response. In addition, since there is a significant proportion of limestones and dolomites, it is essential to check for the possible presence of karstic phenomena before defining the type of foundation. The non-clayey substrate rules out the risk of expansivity. The main precaution for foundations in Algarinejo is characterising the karst, as well as taking account of the moderate seismicity in the design.
