In Alanís, the predominant soils correspond to phyllites and schists, characterised by low permeability and stable consistency, which generally favours the bearing capacity for conventional buildings. Although minor outcrops of carbonate rocks are recorded, such as limestones and dolomites, and there is occasional presence of granite and gneiss, the proportion of these materials does not significantly alter the dominant lithological context, allowing shallow foundations in many cases, following a correct analysis of stratigraphy and near-surface compaction.

Seismic activity in Alanís is very low, with only 5 recorded events over 30 years and an insignificant maximum magnitude, so seismicity does not represent a relevant conditioning factor for structural design. However, the existence of carbonate formations requires that karstification be ruled out or verified before proceeding with the foundation, as cavities or dissolution could compromise ground stability. As the substratum is non-clayey, there are no risks associated with expansive soils, with the possible development of karst processes being the main geotechnical conditioning factor in the municipality.
