Estudio geotécnico in Agramunt

In Agramunt, soils of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominate, which gives the subsoil a high bearing capacity and adequate stability for shallow or semi-deep foundations. However, the occasional presence of gypsum, anhydrite and salts introduces a risk of dissolution that must be analysed, as it may affect the integrity of the foundations if they are found at depth or in proximity to the level of structural support. The low permeability of the formations limits the mobility of water, but it may lead to local shallow aquifers.

Seismic activity in the area is very low, with only 6 recorded events over 30 years and a low maximum magnitude (Mmax 2), so the seismic condition is negligible in structural design. Nevertheless, the possible presence of karst processes associated with gypsum and salts makes it essential to verify the karst before constructing the foundations, as it could generate unanticipated subsidence or cavities, constituting the main geotechnical risk in the municipality. In addition, the non-clayey substratum rules out the possibility of expansivity, facilitating the selection of conventional foundation solutions if no karst-related effects are identified.
